Are your customer properly disengaging the chain brake before trying to take off the cover?

If they do not pull the chain break back before taking off the cover, the cover will jam in place. If they unscrew or play with the cover before unlocking the chain break, this too could cause the cover to jam in place and then it would have to be taking off by the service tech.

Entrepreneurship will never become a “paint by numbers” activity, as there is simply too much uncertainty and the world changes too fast. In our last post we shared findings on the explosion of startup ecosystems around the world. This has been followed by commensurate growth in individuals becoming angel investors. Last year angel investors invested in more than 30,000 startups. With the passing of the JOBS act and the imminent rise of the equity crowdfunding market, we can only expect another boom in the number of startups and angel investors. The scale on the horizon of early stage investing makes the current investment evaluation tools of intuition and social proof unsustainable for rookie and veteran investors alike.

Indian Online Retailer Myntra to Raise Another $25 Million?

Indian online retailer of lifestyle and fashion products, Myntra.com, is reportedly set to secure investment from Accel Partners and Tiger Global Management to the tune of $25 million, according to The Times of India citing unnamed sources [1]. The same two American investors recently pumped more than $100 million into Indian e-commerce firm Flipkart.

While the Times of India says that the Myntra co-founder Mukesh Bansal ‘denied he had closed any fund raise,’ when we contacted Myntra representatives, they could not at the moment comment, but did not specifically deny the news either.

Letsbuy was the main challenger to Flipkart just a while ago, until Flipkart bought Letsbuy for $25 million in February. There are similar traits to that story and Myntra: now both Myntra and Flipkart have the same two investors as well. Interesting, right?

Amidst the rumors, it looks like Myntra is doing very well at the moment. Here is some insight to Myntra’s operational size made by Mukesh Bansal last month:

We currently get around 8,000 orders a day. Since we are exclusively into fashion and lifestyle, we are holding almost 20 to 30 percent market share in this segment. Myntra has been doubling in revenue every five to six months consistently for the past 15 months. We used to average about 4,000 transactions about five months back and today we have doubled this figure. Our average transactions have also grown by over 25 per cent as compared to last year.

Taobao Android App Store Launches, Might Solve App Payment Situation for China

Chinese Android users now have yet another alternative app store to choose from after the launch of Taobao’s new app market (pictured above). The store – at app.taobao.com – has lots of free apps and gaming titles, most of which are Chinese-only, such as the Flipboard clone Zaker. It even has apps that belong to rival e-commerce sites. One omission is the new Flipboard for Android ‘China Edition’.

While all the apps are free thus far, the Taobao app store has the potential to solve the Android app payment problem in China, since Taobao’s parent company, Alibaba, also runs the country’s largest e-payment platform, Alipay. China is one of the few areas where the Google Play store for Android cannot process payments. We’ll have to wait and see if that happens with this new venture. So far, the Taobao App Store lacks even a mobile app of its own, but it is now included in Taobao’s Android app.

The launch marks a reinvention of the “Taobao App Store” name and URL, as it was previously serving as a home for e-commerce-related tools and extensions since its initial opening in January 2010.
