General foreign language abilities by the public.

Japan's pretty great on services and facilities (except that most people have trouble accessing them if they can't speak and read some Japanese, in my experience). Japan lacks in a healthy work life. Either you end up like me, a perpetual contract worker with low pay because you're a foreigner and the company only fully hires Japanese workers, or you end up like my husband, who works endless hours of overtime (which is now affecting his physical health). We've already known people who have "died from overwork" here. That shouldn't even be a thing. We're thinking about leaving, because I don't want that to be my husband, too.

露出計の針は動きますが、精度は不明です。古いタイプの露出計は精度があいまいです。

There are few small dust, frost, and mold inside the finder due to aging, but as far as using it there is no problem and it looks clear.

Some slight dirt or small scratches are found on the screen due to aging, but the image itself looks fine.

Sometimes bycicle parking near station are not marked with no parking sign but in the end of the day my bycicle is somerimes moved to different location although there is plenty of space and many people leave their bycicle there

Near the sea there is no information written in English about any kind of time limits. I ran in problems with security personnel.

It's been too long to think of everything, but, for example, recently a friend ended up in a major hospital here. Another friend wanted to visit, and I thought I knew the visiting hours, but I wanted to confirm it. I couldn't find the information on the hospital website in Japanese (maybe I'm unfamiliar with a lot of terms used by a hospital website), but when I switched to the English website, it was so limited --

I needed an ambulance because my friend had an heart attack on the street. I called the hospital and could tell the address, but the person on the phone didn't understand the word "ambulance", so it took him time and my friend arrived too late at the hospital.

JR ticket information can be very confusing for Shinkansen etc where two tickets need to be purchased (the seat ticket and riding ticket). I thought one ticket was fine because the English wasn't clear and got surprised by the extra charge.

The translation is hard to understand which makes you prone to mistake. immigration staffs tending to foreigners regarding their visa, can't speak English at all. Although their paper documents are in English they can't explain it!

I broke my arm and went to a hospital and was refused service due to a lack of Japanese speaking ability a decade ago and was refused service, then went to another hospital and the same thing happened, then was fine at the 3rd. This is stupid. I was saying "わたしの腕が壊れた。" at the 2 previous hospitals, yet was still refused help. This was terrible.

It's hard to find the right exit in Shinjuku station in Tokyo, since it's such a big station. I took the wrong exit and ended up walking outside to opposite side of the station.

Public utilities: the signs doesnt have english translation inside the toilet. I accidentally pressed the button for emergency help instead of the flush button.

腕を骨折したので通院したが日本語がわからずに治療を断られたことが１０年前にありました。別の病院に行くとそこでは別のことが起きましたが３度目は大丈夫でした。最初に言った病院で私は「わたしの腕が壊れた。」と言ったために断られてしまったのです。ばかげた話ですがひどいものです。

東京で新宿駅は本当に大きな駅なのでどの出口を出ればよいか迷ってしまいます。出口を間違えて反対側の出口まで外から遠回りしたことがあります。

公共施設：トイレには英語のサインがありません。トイレを流すボタンだと思い、間違えて緊急ボタンをおしてしまいました。

All the documents I have received from city hall, were not all written in English. I had a hard time changing my alien residency card to Mynumber card because the procedure was written in English. I had no idea how to change my card and the lady at City hall did not speak any English at all. I someone managed to change with as I had to communicate in Japanese.

The trains cannot be used effectively without talking to the staff, and the staff don't speak English.

When comparing the Japanese information to the translated English information, the English translation is often of very low quality and more confusing then helpful.

市役所から入手した書類は全部が英語で書かれていたわけではありませんでした。外国人登録カードをマイナンバーカードに替えるのに一苦労しました。というのも英語で説明が書いてあったからです。自分のカードの変更の仕方がわからず、市役所の女性職員も英語を全く話せませんでした。日本語でやり取りせねばなりませんでしたが何とか乗り切りました。

I received a lot of messages from Japan when I was home and I thought it would not charge me as long as I do not reply back. When I came home,I got my bill worth 200,000yen. I confronted the same shop clerk I talked before and she denied that she told me that I can bring my phone doing nothing to it. I ended up paying the money and cut off my phone.

I am at the train station and can't find the line i need to ride, i asked a staff in english but they can't understand me.

The year-end tax forms, and accompanying guidelines, are in Japanese. I later received a corrected form in the mail because I had made serious errors in my tax forms and had to rush to send the form in to make the deadline.

Applying for Visa card or other thing , u need to know to write in Japanese , else they do not take the application . Going to new place where all sign board are in Japanese . Using various child jidokan facilities ... All the pamphlet are in Japanese ... If u don't know Japanese or don't have friend to tell u , u cannot use the facilities . At the hospital too no such English preference given .

Before the internet and cell phones, I had trouble finding places when going somewhere new. It was hard at first to ask for help as few spoke English. Now I speak Japanese and have Google Translation to help me!

インターネットや携帯が登場する以前、知らない場所に行くのに大変苦労しました。助けを求めようにも英語を話す人がほとんどいませんでした。今では私も日本語を話せるようになりGoogle翻訳が重宝しています。

地下鉄の遺失物取扱書では英語のサービスがありません。

English assistance from companies such as Softbank or Docomo when trying to buy a phone needs to be easier to get. I find it hard to understand complicated contracts in Japanese...

We cannot get mobile phone without foreigner registration, then the phone is expensive (150 yen per min) even we get one, very inconvenient for most foreigners.

Tax paper or health insurance should be written in English. I usually don't want to pay something I don't understand !

携帯を購入する必要があるときの手続きをやりやすくするためソフトバンクやドコモといった会社における英語サービスの提供。日本、語だと契約内容が複雑すぎてわからない。

外国人登録なしに携帯を購入するのは不可、そのため電話が大変高価（１分１５０円）。たとえ入手できたとしても大概の外国人にとっては大変不便。
