The seven-step Naomitu Asanai, the vice-chief priest of Choueiji, launched a Disaster Volunteer Center for the catastrophe in Japan last year. What he said is still in my head when he and I were looking at the disaster from a hill. "The cloud of dust rose from the all over the town." Fortunately dojo was intact after the disaster, so he resumed training 2 weeks after. However, he had to demolish his own home which was tilted due to repeated aftershocks. He is living in Yubu Dojo next to his lot; therefore, training is held at nearby junior high school property. Even if his everyday life is unstable, he was able to obtain 7th step at Budokan in November last year. There was a cupboard where took place for a group photo.

A year has passed since the catastrophe in Japan. When I thought what I can do as a photographer, what came to my mind was to visit around the catastrophic area and record the "NOW" of the Kendo-ka, people who dedicate to Japanese fencing. At first, I was going to create an e-book of them and deliver to Kendo-ka all over the world, but it was hard for me to do all that by myself. Therefore, I had to abandon it with great regret. However, a magazine "Kendojidai" took interest in my idea, and it was placed in the September issue. Now after a year has passed, I visited and recorded the "NOW" of the Kendo-ka again in Northeast of Japan. I post their situation includes now and last year on Facebook every day. I want many of Kendo-ka around the world to share this with your friends.
