2. Description of functions
2.1. Ambient light sensor (ALS) mode Ambient light sensing results can be read at D0[15:0] and D1[15:0] register through I2C bus interface. The device outputs raw data of CLEAR photodiode sensitive to both visible and infrared spectrum and IR photodiode sensitive to only infrared spectrum during ambient light sensing. It is necessary for device host (user side) to get illuminance value with calculation of both CLEAR data at D0[15:0] and IR data at D1[15:0]. The device outputs interrupt signal to INT terminal in case that D0[15:0] exceed/fall below judgment threshold level(TH[15:0]/TL[15:0]) set before sensing operation.

2. 機能の説明
2.1. 間接照明センサー(ALS)形式では間接照明の感知結果はD0[15:0] およびD1[15:0]のように表示され、I2Cインターフェースを通じ記録する。この装置は可視光および赤外線スペクトルの両方を感知するCLEARフォトダイオードおよび間接照明感知の際赤外線のみを感知するIRフォトダイオードからの未加工データを出力する。装置のホスト（ユーザ側）においては照度の数値はCLEARからのデータであるD0[15:0]とIRからのデータD1[15:0]の両方から算出される必要がある。この装置はD0[15:0]の数値が感知可能限界しきい値（TH[15:0]/TL[15:0]）より過大または過小になった場合に備え感知開始前にINT端子に割り込み信号を出力する。

Why Facebook Needed the Valley

Silicon Valley is also unique in that it rewards risk-takers, not necessarily innovators. As a result, the Valley attracts top talent and creative ability that might otherwise concentrate elsewhere in the economy.

The well-known story of Facebook began in the halls of a Harvard dormitory. Facebook was certainly not the world’s first social network; similar services such as Friendster and Myspace were around since 2002 and 2003, respectively. However, Facebook built upon these previous attempts by focusing on the smaller target market of a college campus and improved privacy features.

有名なFacebookの成功物語はHarvard大学の寮内から始まっている。Facebook自体はもちろん世界で最初のソーシャル・ネットワーキングサービス（SNS）ではなく、それ以前にも2002年にFriendster、2003年にMyspaceといった同様のサービスが存在していた。
Facebookは従来のSNSの基盤に立脚しながら、対象を大学キャンパス内に絞り、プライバシー保護機能を強化していったのである。

Once Facebook took off, Zuckerberg moved the operation to Silicon Valley to leverage the availability of talented programmers, and perhaps more importantly, capital. The concentration of venture capital firms in Silicon Valley not only provides easy access to capital, but also, as in the case of predecessors like the “traitorous eight,” a business network to facilitate technological spillovers and iterative product development. Facebook picked up an early investor in Peter Thiel, whose influence and reputation validated Facebook’s potential and provided further access to capital. Another early Facebook investor, Accel Ventures, played a key role in the hiring of Facebook COO Sheryl Sandberg.

Silicon Valley Isn't Innovative, It's Iterative: Four Proof Points

The Silicon Valley stereotype is one of rugged American individualism and Darwinian survival: the brilliant inventor who risks it all to build a billion dollar company from a parent’s garage or a college dorm room. Outside-the-box thinking and self-reliance are viewed as fundamental to the Valley’s ethos, driving forward the American economy one ground-breaking innovation at a time. Like most stereotypes, there’s a core of truth: Bill Hewlett and Dave Packard really did build HP from scratch in a Palo Alto garage.

Silicon Valleyは革新ではなく反復の所産：4つの根拠

The Silicon Valleyというと一般的に裸一貫から身を立てるアメリカ流個人主義やダーウィン流適者生存を象徴する存在として語られる。すなわち、優秀な発明家が自宅のガレージや大学の寮の一室より始めた研究を全てをなげうって、年間10億ドル規模の大企業にまで成長させていくという立身出世話だ。独創的な思考と独立独歩こそがValleyの根本精神であり、一度に画期的な技術革新をもたらすのだ。こうした既成概念は他のものと同様、重大な真実を示している。Palo Altoのガレージから身を起こしHPを創業したBill HewlettとDave Packardはまさにその好例だからだ。

From salaryman to entrepreneur: the man who made it easier to print stuff in Japan

In 2008, Yasukane Matsumoto was a consultant at AT Kearney who helped businesses to reduce costs. As he gained experience, Matsumoto realized that printing costs were one of the biggest costs to cut. Japan has over 30,000 printing companies but the market is dominated by two giants which gobble up 50 percent of the market. Matsumoto finds this oligopoly market inefficient.

脱サラ起業家：日本にて印刷をより簡単にした男

2008年、Yasukane Matsumoto氏はAT Kearney社において企業向けにコスト削減策の助言を行うコンサルタントとして働いていた。業務上得た経験により、Matsumoto氏は印刷代こそが一番コスト削減の必要な費用の一つだと認識するようになった。日本の印刷会社は約30,000社あるが、市場は大企業二社が約半数を独占している。Matsumoto氏はこの寡占状態こそが非効率の元凶だと気がついた。

“Why can’t small printing companies get printing orders in a more efficient manner?” Matsumoto thought.

He believed that the internet could change this. While still working as a consultant, in 2009, Matsumoto set aside time to start Insatsu Hikaku, a website that helps users compare prices among printing companies.

“I didn’t take any risk because I was just 24,” he says. “You don’t lose anything when you’re young and I just want to do something by myself – so building a startup makes sense. It’s hard to explain.”

「小規模印刷会社が印刷注文をもっと効率的にこなせない理由はどこにあるのだろうか」とMatsumoto氏は思うのだった。

彼はインターネットの活用でこの問題を解決できると考えた。2009年、コンサルタントとしての業務をこなす傍らで時間をやりくりし、Matsumoto氏はInsatsu Hikakuという印刷会社の印刷代の価格比較をユーザーが行うことができるWebサイトを開設した。

「リスクに挑んだ理由は私が24で若かったという理由だけではありません。若い時は失うものがありませんし、私自身、自力で何かをやってみたかったのです。従って起業したのは当然の成り行きです。あまりうまく説明できませんが」と彼は起業の理由をこのように説明する。

With Insatsu Hikaku set up, Matsumoto spoke with printing companies, one at a time, to convince them to get onto his online platform. Matsumoto made the decision to leave AT Kearney in 2010 to give his startup undivided attention. He didn’t like the consulting job anyway – he always felt the entrepreneurial spirit within him.

In 2012, Matsumoto’s startup received an investment of $2.3 million from Yahoo Japan, Nissay Capital, and Anri fund. With money in the bank, Matsumoto leveraged on Insatsu Hikaku’s database to set up Raksul in March 2013.

Insatsu Hikakuを立ち上げるとともに、Matsumoto氏は印刷会社各社と個別に話し合い、それらの会社にサイトのプラットフォームへの参加を説得した。2010年には自分の起こした会社に専念できるよう、AT Kearney社を辞める決断をした。彼自身、コンサルタントの仕事は好きとは言えなかったし、常に彼の胸中には起業家精神が宿っていたからである。

2012年にはMatsumoto氏の起こしたスタートアップはYahoo Japan, Nissay Capital, Auri fundより2億3000万円もの投資を得ることとなった。銀行口座の豊富な資金源をもとに、MatsumotoはInsatsu Hikakuのデータベースを活用して2013年3月にRaksulを立ち上げた。

Raksul is more than just a price comparison site between printing companies. It’s an ecommerce site focusing on printing. Based on your location, volume of print, pricing, and deadline, Raksul will automatically recommend the most suitable printing company for you. The user then uploads the relevant files. At the backend, Raksul’s staff help to do the sizing and formatting before sending it to a printing company. The printing company will print and deliver the final printed goods to the customer’s doorstep. For every successful printing deal, Raksul gets a cut.

Raksulは単なる印刷会社のプリント代比較サイトではない。印刷に焦点を当てたeコマースサイトなのである。所在地、印刷量、価格、納期、これらの条件をもとにRaksulではあなたに最も合った印刷会社を紹介するのである。ユーザーは印刷対象のファイルをアプロードし、バックエンドではRaksulのスタッフは印刷会社にデータを送る前にサイズやフォーマットの調整をする。印刷会社は印刷し、完成した印刷物を顧客の住所まで送る。といった具合である。成約1件ごとにRaksulは手数料をもらう仕組みである。

The attitude of the users who are visiting price comparison sites and ecommerce sites is different. A site which has two functions, price comparison and commerce, is confusing to users. That’s why we decided to separate the sites – Raksul.com and Insatsu-Hikaku.com.

The result for Raksul was promising. So promising that it attracted a whopping $15.5 million investment in January 2014 led by WiL and other participating investors including GMO Ventures Partner, Itochu, Global Brain, and Mixi. By February 2014, Raksul hit US$500,000 in sales and in March, last month, sales doubled to US$1 million. It now works with more than 1,700 printing partners in Japan and has about 40 staff members.

プリント代比較サイトを訪問するユーザーと、eコマースサイトを訪問するユーザーとではその態度に違いが見られる。ひとつのサイトで両方の機能を持たせようとするとユーザーにはわかりにくい。Raksul.comとInsatsu-Hikaku.comと別々の2つのサイトにしたのにはそのような理由がある。

Raksulの業績は順調である。あまりにも好調なため、2014年１月にWiLを筆頭に、GMO Ventures Partner, Itochu, Global BrainおよびMixiを含む投資家より合計1550万米ドルもの投資を集めることに成功した。2014年2月時点においては、Raksulは50万米ドルの売り上げを記録し、3月には売上100万米ドルまで倍増した。現在では参加印刷会社は日本国内で1700社を数え、スタッフも40名となった。

“Japan is growing well for us, so Southeast Asia will be our next focus this year. We would like to start a price comparison site for printing companies there soon,” says Matsumoto.

You may have heard of Vistaprint, but Raksul is not the same concept: Vistaprint owns printing machines but Raksul doesn’t.

「日本では十分成長しています。従って今年は東南アジアを次の焦点に据えるつもりです。東南アジアでも印刷会社の価格比較サイトをすぐに立ち上げる予定です。」とMatsumoto氏は将来の目標について語る。

Vistaprintのケースは耳にした方もいるだろう。ただし、Raksulとはコンセプトは違う。両者の違いはVistaprintが自前の印刷機を持つのに対し、Raksulは持たないことである。

It is also nice watch for people with low vision or visually-impaired. In Japan two types of watches for the visually-impaired are marketed, the one telling time by directly touching the hands of a watch or the other with sounds.

Since the wrist watches were invented during 16th century, we have seen wide variety of watches with unique ideas and designs but all of them tell time visually. We really give high regard for you because you changed the very concept that time is told visually which we have been taken for granted for so long.

I don't understand why you need the receipts to be so perfect & in a certain way. It is a very unusual request and no other customers ask for.
