ニカワの加減で墨の雰囲気が変化する。
雨の多い時期にはニカワが湿気への耐性が弱いため
凧絵を骨組みとを接着や絵を描く作業はしない。

大正・昭和時代の桜井地方では凧あげ大会が盛んだった。
凧職人は、地元の有力者に依頼されて
泊まり込みで畳十枚程(16.5平方)の大きな凧もつくっていた。

凧作りも常に機械化等の時代の制約を受けてきた。
我々愛好家は、つくる側と一緒になって伝承されてきたおもちゃや人形の存続と理解に努めなければならない。

虻や蜂等の変形凧で有名な愛知県安城市の桜井凧製作者 岩瀬仙松さん宅にて
大正・昭和初期の凧の版木が発見された。
コミュニティの人々は、これらの凧絵を後世に残すため
時間をかけてこれらの版画を墨一色で刷り上げた。
刷る作業は手先だけにチカラをこめるだけでは足らず、
上半身の体重を馬連にのせ、素早く均等に刷るため大変だった。
