We worked on a negotiation with a man living in the property which we bought at an auction. Although the task was hard, I felt some emotion about the negotiating partner's life who was so-called a bankrupt and spent a lot of time during this period thinking about it.

大震災から１年が経った。私が写真家として何が出来るのか考えた時、被災地を回り、剣道家の「今」を記録する事だった。当初その記録を電子書籍にして世界中の剣道人に配信すると考えたのだが、個人で電子書籍を作る事は非常に難しく中断を余儀なくされたが「剣道時代」が興味を持ってくれ９月号に掲載された。そして１年が経った今、再度、東北の剣士を訪ね現在を撮影した。昨年と今年の記録を昨年はできなかった剣道家の状況をFBにて毎日報告する。世界中の剣道ファミリーの皆さんシェアを御願いします。

It has been 1 year since the massive earthquake. When I considered what could be done as a photographer, I found it was to go around the devastated area to record "the present situation" of Kendo players there. Although originally I planed to compose the records into a digital book to deliver global Kendo players, I gave up the idea as it was very difficult for me as an individual to make it a reality. However, a magazine "Kendo Jidai" became interested in my idea and it was introduced in an article of its September issue. Now when it has been 1 year since the earthquake, I visited Kendo players living in Northeast area again to take their current figures. I will upload the records taken last year and this year about the Kendo players on FB every day, which I could not do last year. I would like to share my report with every Kendo family member all over the world.

上海代理店との懇親会について
懇親会では代理店の皆様に暖かく迎えられ、食事をいただき、楽しい時間を過ごしました。
最初は緊張して代理店の方々と上手く話せませんでしたがゲームなどをするにつれ少しずつ緊張が取れて打ち解けることが出来ました。

I could feel directly the robust atmosphere of China, which has developed as the current world's second economic power after overtaking Japan, however, I also felt that the disparity between the rich and the poor was wider than in Japan or Korea when I found many Chinese people selling fake brand-name products and homeless people on off-streets.

About a friendly meeting with the people at the Shanghai agent.
Everyone at the agent gave us a warm welcome and we had really good time having our meal.
At first I was too nervous to talk with them well but after a while I could relax gradually to open up to them as we enjoyed games together.

しかし、私自身英語が得意で無い為、意見の交換が上手く出来ない場面も多くありました。

However, I had many frustrating experiences in exchanging of opinions due to my poor English.
Mr Shiota, the president, said in his speech the other day that the world situation is changing rapidly day by day, meanwhile I became painfully aware that being unable to use English as a world common language leaves me behind and lacking an international sense.

At the training in Shanghai, I could have a good opportunity to talk with a lot of people in the agent and the Tokyo office whom I rarely see. Yet I keenly felt my lack of English ability and international sense. I hope I will visit Shanghai not for a training but for an actual business next time, so I am going to make efforts to develop sales with our local agents back in Japan. Moreover, I will expand my scope of job with wide vision, not only be occupied by the daily task.

Recently, we frequently see the news saying that Tokyo would be hit by a massive earthquake(s) with above level 7.0 on the Japanese scale. However, I have never found any materials that states in detail about how much destructive power the level 7.0 earthquake would have. According to the Japan Meteorological Agency, the definitions of the destructive power of such level 7.0 quakes are: "Much of unfixed furniture may move, fall down, or jump in the air.", or "More crosswise/X-shaped cracks and flaws would be seen on building components including walls, joints and pillars. Pillars of the 1st floor level or intermediate floor level might collapse, which would prevent many buildings from keeping standing.". Their indications do not give us more specific information such as the estimated width of shake or length of the quake. I think they provide us only ambiguous definitions.
