It was reported that there are over 400 venture capital funds in India alone, many of which are created by financial professionals who quit their jobs to raise their own funds. Of course, big-name venture firms like Sequoia, IDG, and even Intel’s venture arm, are also in India, making investing more competitive.

Nonetheless, India is still a great place to start a business. Accel Partners pulling out its $400 million venture fund doesn’t change a thing about the country. It does, however, indicate that the investing space in India is getting a little crowded and there is more money than there are start-ups to invest in.

We have contacted Accel Partners India to see if we can get an update on this story.

The American start-up which has been running for over two years has quickly established a global presence and operates in UK, France, Spain, Australia, Italy, Germany, Brazil, Turkey and Japan. But of course, the latest and largest market Mobile Roadie has entered is China. Launching just two weeks ago, Mobile Roadie is localizing and re-branding itself as Qmobao with the help of a local Chinese mobile agency called FabriQate.

Meanwhile user numbers have been slipping on some of Zynga’s titles. On Sept. 8, the company had 275 million monthly active users, according to AppData. Now the company has 268 million. Zynga’s most popular game, CityVille, has fallen from 100 million users to 74 million. Meanwhile, Electronic Arts has come out of nowhere as it launched The Sims Social on Aug. 18. Before that game, EA had only 29 million monthly active users on Facebook. Now it has 93 million. That’s a huge swing. Meanwhile, Wooga has also grown quickly to 41 million users. And rivals such as Playdom, 6waves Lolapps, CrowdStar, and King.com also have a lot of users.

1. The New Rules

A remote work policy should be drafted in addition to a standard employee contract. Due to the nature of remote working, there might be areas that contradict what has already been laid out in the contract. These areas need to be addressed.

You also need to clarify parts of the original contract which still stand, despite your employee being based remotely. More “woolly” areas — such as conduct, confidentiality, hours of work and who to report to — all have to be crystal clear so that everyone knows where they stand.

Finally on this point, make sure your employee is happy to share contact details with co-workers and business partners when necessary. These are small details, but can make a big difference.

2. Equipment and Insurance

For office-based staff, equipment security isn’t usually an issue, but when your workforce is off premises, it becomes an important issue to address in a policy document.

If your remote employee travels as part of his role, travel expenses should also be considered. It should also be made clear who pays the costs if the employee does have to travel to your head office, especially if it’s a considerable distance.

4. Security of Information

The level of security you need to set out in your policy will depend on what kind of business you run. Do you need to insist your employee keeps confidential documents under lock and key? Do you need to specify a secure postal address if and when they return documents to the main office? If so, will you foot the bill?

What happens if there is a breach of security? Does your employee know who to report it to, at all times?

No one likes to think of worst case scenarios, but if you do cover these important bases in your policy, when something does go wrong, you’ll have procedures in place.
