Camera 420342389405509699937068872495 that arrived damaged was shipped with other 3 cameras within the shipping box, however you provided a picture of only 1 camera inside the box. May I ask about the other 3 cameras and how all of them arrived to you? Also, you never confirmed that the cracked screen would not power. Can you send a picture of the camera on? That way we can see the total damage.

Please clarify my concerns/provide information to proceed.

Cinemacraft Launches Videogram: A Slick, Multi-Thumbnail Web Video Interface

Yesterday we mentioned Taiwan-based startup Cubie, which had been accepted into the 500 Startups Accelerator program. Another Asia-based company that is also joining the program is Cinemacraft. In addition to making the shift to Silicon Valley, the startup has just released Videogram, a service that gives users a pictorial summary of the a video using an almost comic book-style, multi-panel display.

Cinemacraft describes what it sees as the current problem with internet video:

Video thumbnails are archaic and in most cases does not provide context to the content and thus does not grab the attention of the consumers and this leads to non-engagement of video(s) on social networks and publishers landing sites. Cinemacraft’s videogram produces an interactive pictorial summary of the video automactically; makes video thumbnail come to life and provides hooks to enhanced social features.

Let’s step back and take a look at the big picture of the web in Asia in 2012. We see internet penetration in the region has jumped from 24 percent last year, to 27 percent now. And with that comes a leap to just over a billion Asian netizens this year – 1.034 billion, to be precise. Mobile penetration in Asia has risen from 74 to 82 percent, and for many people it’s the primary mode of accessing the internet.

SingTel’s HungryGoWhere partners with Perx and Reserveit.sg, could lay foundation for ‘super food network’

Imagine reading a restaurant review on HungryGoWhere, then booking a table on Reserveit.sg. Once the reservation is done, you get a notification on Perx saying that you’ve received a chop, which allows you to redeem a dessert.

It’s a foodie’s dream come true, and we might not need to wait too long for it to happen.

The foundation is already set. We’ve learnt today that SingTel-owned HungryGoWhere, Singapore’s leading food portal, has partnered with mobile loyalty startup Perx (which has over 700 locations and 400,000 chops so far) and restaurant reservation service Reserveit.sg to integrate their services into the site.

The team behind HungryGoWhere is also involved with inSing.com, SingTel’s very own lifestyle portal. So Perx and Reserveit.sg will get visibility on inSing too. In addition, Perx will see action on TableDB, HungryGoWhere’s very own restaurant reservation service.

We need to quarantine the Starstruck Virus before it leads to an epidemic facepalms — or worse. The reason the Starstuck Virus is so deadly is that it ends up severely circumscribing both the economic potential and societal impact of entrepreneurship by suffocating the early-stage startup ecosystem with increased noise, increased distractions, corrupted motivations and misapplied of talent.

Fortunately both strains of the Starstruck Virus have a similar remedy. I advocate the dual pronged approach of sociological and methodological (note that the Starstruck Entrepreneur falls short on both economic impact and long-term societal impact):

One potent approach to eradicating the Starstruck Virus is to ignore the infected person. This deprives the Starstruck Narcissistic Personality Disorder of its lifeblood: your attention.

In more severe cases it may be appropriate to use a more vigorous approach: Take a page out of the book of paranoid conspiracists and fight back through the four-step approach of Identify, Vilify, Nullify, Destroy. When a Starstruck entrepreneur tells you their idea, don't smile and nod or (heaven forbid!) tell them their idea is awesome.
