日本人はタイ独自の宗教観や風習を知らないため、新しい知識を得られる翻訳本は貴重だ。
良い原作なのに、専門用語を説明しきれず、読み手に疑問が残る訳なのは残念だ。女性の視点と言葉で、風習を理解した人が訳すのが望ましいと思う。様々な世代の読み手に伝えられる日本語の文章力も必要だ。
学生を始め大勢が訳を待っているのは事実だが、彼の翻訳本は日本の出版社から販売しづらく、販売できても売れないだろう。
Aさんなら民俗学の教授の下でタイについて学び、作者と同年代だから気持ちを考えて翻訳できると思う

As many Japanese are not familiar with the culture and custom which is unique in Thailand, the books translated into Japanese are valuable. I feel sorry that the translation lacking the explanation of the special terms related to the topic ruins the greatness of the original book. The female translator who understands Thai custom was expected to be in charge so she could use natural words with woman's point of view. Advanced Japanese writing skill is also required in order to make Japanese readers understand the context regardless of their age.
It is certain that there are many Japanese including students waiting for the translated book to be published. However, it is unlikely that the book translated by him will be published from Japanese bookmaker and it wouldn't sell even if it gets published. I believe Ms A is able to translate the original with deep understanding for the content considering that she studied Thai culture under an ethnological study professor and is around the same age of the author of the original book.

In Tencent’s most recent financial report (for Q1 2014), the Chinese web giant saw online game revenues – across its web empire, not just on WeChat – increase 23 percent quarter-on-quarter to RMB 10.39 billion (US$1.67 billion). Mobile games tied to WeChat or QQ brought in RMB 1.8 billion (US$289 million) in revenue in Q1, which tripled from the end of 2013.

We’ve been told by a source in the games industry that Fruit Ninja for WeChat will launch soon as well. We’ve been waiting on that arriving since we first heard of it last November.

Tencentの直近の会計報告(2014年第一四半期)によると、中国のインターネット大手として、WeChat上だけではなく展開する他のウェブサービス内でのオンラインゲーム事業からも収益を上げている。全四半期比で23％の増加で、収益は103億9000万人民元(16億7000万米ドル)まで拡大した。WeChatやQQ上で提供される携帯ゲームは、第一四半期で18億人民元(2億8900万米ドル)の収益を計上し、2013年の第四四半期から三倍の規模となった。

ゲーム業界のある情報筋によれば、WeChat向けのFruit Ninjaが近日中にローンチされる予定だという。Fruit Ninjaについて最初に話が上がった昨年11月から、発売が待たれていた。

Tencent drops $3.2M on the company it hopes can be the Uber of laundry in China

China’s biggest internet company Tencent (HKG:0700) has just announced an RMB 20 million (US$3.2 million) series A round of funding into an app-connected laundry service made by laundromat chain Rongchang, according to 36kr.

Despite the relatively small round compared to Tencent’s other recent investments – like US$736 million into online classifieds site 58.com – Rongchang is no startup. The laundry chain has been a staple franchise in China for several years.

中国へのランドリー版Uberを目指すTencent、320万米ドルの下落

36krによると、中国最大のインターネット企業であるTencent（HKG:0700）は、2,000万人民元（320万米ドル）規模のA株での資金調達を発表した。コインランドリーをチェーン展開するRongchangによるランドリー・サービスをアプリに連携する事業への参入がその目的である。

Tencentの最近の投資案件と比較すると小規模ではあるが（7億3,600万米ドルの告知サイト58.comへの投資等との比較）、Rongchangはスタートアップ企業ではなく、長年ランドリーチェーンとして中国国内での生活必須サービスとして定着している企業である。

The online service, dubbed Edaixi, currently gets about 1,000 orders per day, and plans to reach 10,000 per day within one year. Edaixi’s main service charges a flat RMB 99 (US$16) rate per each of its custom laundry bags, whereas most of its competitors only charge per piece of clothing. It will also clean individual pieces of clothing, shoes, furniture, air conditioners, and handbags.

Edaixiと呼ばれるこのサービスは、現在一日あたり1,000件を受注しているが、一年以内に10,000件以上の受注の達成を目指す。Edaixiの主力サービスの価格は、自社独自のランドリー袋一つにつき一律99人民元（16米ドル）と設定されており、競合他社の多くが服の枚数単位で価格設定をしている方法と異なる。同サービスでは、単体の服・靴・家具・エアコン・ハンドバックなどのランドリーサービスも受け付けている。

Submitting an order from Edaixi’s website, native app, or WeChat service account will dispatch a courier to come pick up the customer’s laundry and bring it back clean and fresh within 72 hours. With aims of being a sort of Uber for laundry, Edaixi plans to create distribution units so a laundry courier can always pick up a customer’s laundry within 48 minutes. For now, the service is only available in Beijing.

Edaixiのウェブサイト・独自アプリ・WeChatからサービスを依頼すると、顧客の洗濯物を回収する配送業者が手配され、72時間以内にクリーニングされた洗濯物が配達される。Edaixiは、ランドリー業界におけるUberのような存在になる事を目指し、対象区域を設定し、配送業者が常に48分以内に洗濯物を回収できるような仕組み作りに取り組んでいる。現在、サービスは北京市内のみで展開されている。

Tencent’s investment will be used to expand Edaixi’s coverage area both in Beijing and additional cities. Rongchang founder Zhang Rongyao told 36kr he accepted Tencent’s investment because he believes the company has a deep understanding of the online-to-offline (O2O) business model, and it’s more concerned with making good products and services rather than a return on its investment.

This recent investment comes just days after competitor 24tidy raised a funding round worth “tens of millions of RMB.” Other online laundry services in China include Ganxike, Xiyigi, and WeWash.

Tencentの投資は、Edaixiの北京市内・その他の都市におけるサービス提供地域の拡大のためのコストとして使われる。Rongchang創始者のZhang Rongyao氏は36krに対し、「私がTencentからの投資を受け入れた理由は、Tencentはオンラインとオフラインを繋ぐビジネスモデル（O2O）に深い理解を持っており、投資に対する利益よりも良い製品・サービスを作り出す事に重きを置いていると考えているからです。」と話した。

この新しい投資は、Rongchangの強豪である24tidyが「数千万RMB」規模のファンディングを成立させた数日後に行われた。中国でのオンライン・ランドリー・サービスには他に、Ganxike・Xiyigi・WeWashがある。

Edaixi said it went with Tencent in part because Tencent knows the ropes of O2O commerce. 2014 is the O2O year for Tencent: prior to the investment in Edaixi, Tencent has taken 20% stake in Dianping, China’s Yelp, 15% in e-commerce JD and 19.9% in 58.com, China’s local listing giant.

Currently operating in Beijing, Shanghai and Shenzhen, Edaixi is planning to extend its presence all across China. It receives on average 1000 orders per day and aims for 10,000 orders/day by the end of the year. It plans to station 10,000 couriers for each neighborhood it covers to speed up pickup time.

Edaixiは、連携を決めたのはTencentがO2Oコマースの秘訣を知っているからだ、と発言している。2014年はTencentにとってO2Oの年、と言えるだろう。Edaixiへの投資に先立ちTencentは、中国版YelpであるDianpingの20％、eコマースのJDの15%、中国のローカル告知板サービスの巨人58.comの19.9％の株式をそれぞれ取得している。

現在は北京・上海・深センで展開しているEdaixiだが、中国全土へのサービス拡大を計画中だ。平均で一日あたり1,000件の受注があるが、今年末までに一日あたり10,000件の受注を目指している。また、洗濯物の回収の時間を短縮するため、各地域に10,000人の配送者を配置することを予定している。
