What is Kendo
It is a competitive combat between two persons similar to western fencing. Victory is determined through striking pre-determined points on the opponent's body with a blade (shinai) made of bamboo while dressed up in protective gear. The principle of Kendo is "Learn to master the blade and shape yourself".

With its explosion of popularity in the Muromachi period, many schools and denominations have sprung up. It became an art of the warrior in the Edo period. In the 1970s, it became an international sport. Sparring is held in a ring about 10㎡ in size. The person who scores two points first wins the round. The sparring is kept to a standard 5 minutes time limit.

日本には「いただきます」「ごちそうさま」という言葉がある。
「いただきます」は、日本人が食事を始める前に日常的に使う言葉だが、食材である生き物の植物や動物の命を絶ち調理し、それらの命をもらって、それを食べる人間が自分の命を維持し生存することの感謝を表すことを意味している。

When a living being is given life, it has no choice but to live it out. Instead of saying animals can't be eat, but plants are okay, beef and pork are okay but dolphins are not, these people who actually say such things should be grateful to the lives of the things they eat and not kill in vain.

There are the sayings "I will receive" and "Thank you for the meal" in Japan.
"I will receive" is said by the Japanese before the start of their meals in daily life. It means to say thanks for receiving the ability to extend its own life by having to end the lives of the ingredients such as plants and animals that make up the meal.

「ごちそうさま」は、食事を終える際に日常的に使う言葉だが、食材の調達や調理に走り回る人達への感謝を意味している。

無駄に殺さないという意味では、極端な豊食は戒められるべきかもしれないし、毛皮のためだけに動物を殺すことにも賛成できないということには同意できる。

ただ、上記の考え方で言えば、イルカやクジラを捕獲し食べることは、牛や豚に対してやっていることと何ら変わりがなく、その意味でイルカ漁が糾弾されることは理解できない。
また、クジラ漁が糾弾され、武力行使を受けることも理解できない。

"Thank you for the meal", is used everyday after the end of a meal and it means to give thanks to the people who have put effort into obtaining the ingredients and preparing the meal.

I can agree that not killing in vain means the moderation of food and the objection of killing animals purely for their skin and fur.

However, with the basis above, I am unable to understand why the capturing of dolphins and whales for the sake of getting food has to be blamed when it is actually no different from what we are doing to cows and pigs.
Also, using military force to stop whale fishing is just beyond my comprehension.
