Additional info: This is a personal statement to help my friend to try to get into a lacquer workshop in a foreign country and she needs to present her philosophy in English.

「うるし」を仕事にしている人は、「陶器」の性質を知らない。「陶芸」を仕事にしている人は、「うるし」の性質を知らない。私は、焼きを失敗した陶器にうるしのコーティングをすることで、両方の技術を使い面白い発見した。

陶器は、岩が土になり粘土になりそれを炎という圧力で、形あるものに変える。うるしは、その陶器の目に見えない穴に入り込み木の成分が陶器を包むことが出来る。
そして、不思議なぬくもりのある作品をつくれる。
それを「陶體漆器」という。その過程が面白く作品を発表していました。

Those who work on "Japanese lacquer" do not know characteristics of "pottery". Those who work on "pottery" do not know characteristics of "Japanese lacquer". By coating Japanese lacquer over pottery failed to burn, I found an interesting technic by using both of them.

Pottery turns into formed things by rocks becoming cray and fire pressure. Japanese lacquer goes into the invisible holes on the pottery and wood materials can enclose the pottery.
Then, it becomes a mysterious warmth of thing.
