Additional info: This is a personal statement to help my friend to try to get into a lacquer workshop in a foreign country and she needs to present her philosophy in English.

「うるし」を仕事にしている人は、「陶器」の性質を知らない。「陶芸」を仕事にしている人は、「うるし」の性質を知らない。私は、焼きを失敗した陶器にうるしのコーティングをすることで、両方の技術を使い面白い発見した。

陶器は、岩が土になり粘土になりそれを炎という圧力で、形あるものに変える。うるしは、その陶器の目に見えない穴に入り込み木の成分が陶器を包むことが出来る。
そして、不思議なぬくもりのある作品をつくれる。
それを「陶體漆器」という。その過程が面白く作品を発表していました。

Professional lacquerware artists don't know characteristics of ceramic. Professional ceramic ware artists don't know characteristics of lacquer. I have made an interesting discovery by using both technique: coating poorly-fired ceramic ware with lacquer.

In making a ceramic ware, a rock becomes soil, then clay, and the artist shapes it with the pressure of fire. Lacquer gets into the very tiny holes on the ceramic ware and contents of woods wrap it.
And, that results in a wonderful and warm piece.
It is called ceramic lacquer ware. I have made pieces because I enjoy the process.
