まずアメリカの人気番組「SNL」において、デビュー最初期の1981年～2014年までのスタジオ・ライブを収録。1978年のアルバム・デビュー以来、コンスタントに同番組には出演しており、またこの追悼プログラムで初オンエアーされた、2015年「SNL」40周年記念のアフター・パーティーの模様も。そして2007年、全米アメラグの祭典、S,Bでのハーフタイム・ショーでは、有名な豪雨の中での”Purple Rain”を含む全8曲怒涛のメドレーが感動もので、ここまで62分にわたり収録。
