外見の似たものに、食用のクロハナビラニカワタケというキノコもあるので要注意。
どう見ても脳みそ。
死に至るほどの毒を持つキノコだが、フィンランドでは普通に食用で売られている。
魚のフグのように、正しく調理できる自信がなければ絶対に食べるべきではないキノコ。
人によっては中毒を起こすが、食用にもなるといわれる。
毒を持つキノコの中にはこのようなものも多いため、専門的な知識無しで食べてはならない。
