我々は荷物の輸出許可を得た為、1月21日に東京関税からアメリカに向けて荷物が発送されたことを確認しました。
3月12日の到着とお知らせしましたが、これは我々のミスです。
荷物は1月24～27日に到着する予定です。
交通状況によって数日遅れる場合がございますのであらかじめご了承ください。
あなたのご両親の誕生日に間に合うことを祈っています。

The product should arrive on January on January 24-27. Please note that it could arrive a few days later than the expected date depending on the traffic condition.
We are hoping it will make it on your parent's birthday.

次は私のつぶやきとして、捉えてください。「東京税関からアメリカに発送された」と日本文にはあるので、「shipped out to the U.S. from Tokyo Customs 」と訳されたのだと思います。ですので、その点は特に修正しませんでした。しかし、良く読んでみると、東京税関から確認が取れたと、伝えたいのかと想像できますよね。というのも、東京税関は港、空港ではないので、そこから貨物は発送されないはずだからです。そう考えると訳文は変わってきますよね。どこまで、翻訳者の意思を込めて翻訳していいのか、いつも迷うところです。長文で失礼しました。
レビューありがとうございます。なるほど、そういう解釈もありますね。私はあまり貿易手続きに関しては詳しくなくて、間違っているかもしれませんが、
海外へ荷物を送る際には必ず税関手続き経て配送されるのでしょうから、直接税関から送らないとしても、依頼者様の原文のように「東京税関からアメリカへ」としてもおかしくはないと思うのですがどうでしょうか？ 確かにその解釈において「from」を使うのはまり適切ではないかもしれませんが。
少しだけ疑問点があります。動詞「ship」は他動詞と自動詞両方の使われ方があるので、必ずしも受け身にする必要はないのでしょうか？
それと「should」も予定をあらわす「will」と同じような意味合いでも使われますよね？「 ~すべき、~するはずだ」の意味ではなく。そんなに稀な用法でもないと思うのですが。
最後の文は、視点の問題だけで、荷物を主語にするのか、受取主を主語にするかの違いだけなのではないでしょうか？ これも解釈の違いといえばそうなのですが、わたし的には原文からすると、「誕生日までに受け取って欲しい」より「荷物が誕生日までに相手先に届いて欲しい」ニュアンスの方が強いように感じられたので荷物を主語にしたのですが。
それとon timeにするとその日時きっかりに到着するみたいなニュアンスにならないのでしょうか？「 誕生日ピッタシに」より、「誕生日までに到着してほしい」というのが原文の意図だと私は解釈しました。
文章からは伝わりにくいかとは思いますが、気分を害したとかではないですし、間違いを添削していただくことはありがたいと思っております。他の間違えた箇所については納得しています。
「ship」に関しては、念のためイギリス人にも確認しましたが、shippedにしなくてはなりません。良い説明か分かりませんが、物は自ら船、航空機に乗り込んで、移動しないということです。shouldはwouldに直す必要は無いのかもしれません。ただ、その後でその日程から2，3日遅れるかもしれないとあるので、wouldのほうが無難かと思いました。最後のmake it onはこのように使えるものなのか、申し訳ないのですが、私にはまだ判断がつきません。ご質問の返事になっていると良いのですが。
返答ありがとうございます。shipやsendに関しては、色々テキストを確認したのですが、自動詞的用法も他動詞的用法も混在している印象でした。文脈にもよりますが、少なくとも同じメールに自動詞と他動詞的用法を混在させないようにしようと思いますし、できるかぎり他動詞を使っていこうと思います。
