sender を使ったのがよいと思います。　　The damaged item may not have to be returned, but I can not sell it.　この部分、原文の意味がはっきりとつかめませんでした。原文の作者は、どこかから品物を仕入れ、それをどこかに売っているような状態だと思います。それで、仕入れ先から壊れた品物が届いたので、「送り返しても良いけれど、売れないよ」と言っているのではと解釈しましたがいかがでしょうか？
原文を直すとすれば「破損商品はそちらに返送してもかまいませんが、販売は不可能かと思われます。」というような感じでしょうか。
