招き猫とは
猫は農作物や蚕を食べるネズミを駆除するため、古くは養蚕の縁起物でもあったが、養蚕が衰退してからは主に商売繁盛の縁起物とされています。
右手（前脚）を挙げている猫は金運を招き、左手（前脚）を挙げている猫は人（客）を招くとされます。
一般的には三毛猫ですが現在は種類も増えており、諸説ありますが恋愛運（桃）や魔除け（黒）など、様々な意味を持つようになっています。
とにかく可愛い、縁起物です。

What is Beckoning Cat (Maneki-Neko) ?
Cats were traditionally deemed as a good luck symbol for sericulture in relation to their nature of exterminating rats that would eat crops and silkworms. As sericulture ebbed away, cats have since become a good luck symbol mainly for successful business.
Cats raising their right arms (paws) are meant to invite financial luck. Cats raising their left arms (paws) are meant to invite people (customers) .
Although they are generally tortoiseshell-coloured, tendency towards the variation of their colours are on the increase today. With different opinions being discussed about their colours, they have become to represent all different kinds of luck, such as love luck (pink) and protection against evil (black).
All in all, it is a very charming good luck symbol.
