There are so many bands around that 'sound' good but they don't really have any songs, they don't have any hooks, nothing to hold on to.

I think songwriting is the hardest skill to perfect as a musician (and something I'm still trying to do) and lots of people get caught up with the 'sound' of their music without focusing on songwriting.

I think if you can listen to a crappy tape recording of a song and that song still gets across then it's a great song.

ミュージシャンとして私が思うに、作曲は完成させるのがもっとも難しく、（でもそれを私はずっとがんばっている）多くの人は作曲に焦点を当てることなくに音楽の「歌」に夢中になる。

もしあなたがくだらない録音テープを聴いたとしてもそれが素晴らしい歌だと感じるだろう。
