We’ve seen several run-ups and drops over the past few years. I would not recommend putting a large amount of a portfolio into Bitcoin as an investment. That being said, as a long tail, black swan bet, I am comfortable with about a 1% allocation. Bitcoin are not controlled by any central government or bank, they cannot be seized if properly stored. (Unlike savings in banks in Cyprus, other EU governments are starting to write laws allowing them to do ‘bail-ins’.)
