・カカオトークは2013年3月下旬に日本国内1,000万ユーザーを達成しており、Yahoo!Japanとの業務資本提携の効果も一定程度は伺える。但し、LINEは4,500万ユーザーを超えており、また実際の利用状況鑑みても単純に1/4程度の存在感があるとは言いがたい。
・その他、目を引く動きとしてLOUNGEを提供するクオン社がタイの通信キャリアのAIS社と組んでスタンプ配信サービスを開始したことが挙げられる。メッセージアプリに対してツール提供を行う動きとして注目される。
