Brazilian insurance premiums and private pension contributions continued to show slower growth in the seven months to end-June, but the country's fastest growing economic segments have begun to show increasing premium expansion, new data shows.
Overall, premiums and contributions reached 48.0bn reais in January-July, up 15.3% from the same months last year, as July revenues totaled 7.06bn reais, up 6.0% from June and 9.2% from July 2009.
The main slowdown in growth was in private pension product VGBL for standard filing taxpayers. It is still the biggest product in Brazil with 18.2bn reais in contributions in the first seven months of the year.
