Founded by Ikuya Yamada, the idea of Phroni was born out of the frustration over text selection on smartphones and tablets. During that time, Ikuya was also conducting research on machine learning and natural language processing. He noticed that his research might be able to solve this issue and dramatically improve the user experience of smartphone and tablets, and therefore created Phroni.

Nonetheless, “extracting interesting keywords from a text may not be as easy as it sounds. It can be very difficult even with state-of-the-art research outcomes”, says Ikuya.

山田 育矢氏が創設したこのPhroniのアイデアは、スマートフォンやタブレットでのテキスト選択への不満から生まれたものである。当時、山田さんは機械学習と自然言語処理の研究もしていた。その研究がこの問題を解決し、スマートフォンやタブレットのユーザーエクスペリエンスを飛躍的に改良できるかもしれないという事に山田さんは気付き、Phroniの作成に至った。
