かつて…
貧しい農家の娘たちが売られる置屋（遊郭とよばれる界隈にある）というものがあった。娘たちはどこへ連れて行かれるかも知らずに
ここへやってきて、やがてその運命の厳しさを知ることになる。この作品では、江戸の遊郭から逃げ出す少女たちの物語を描いた。
少女たちは遊郭からの追っ手を避けて逃げるうちに道に迷い、やがて山寺まで辿り着くことになる・・・。
