映画の舞台であるベトナム戦争前後のアメリカでは、知能指数が少ないという病気は周りの人間には障害者ではなくただの馬鹿という扱いをされていた。彼は知的障害を持ちながらも彼の素直でまっすぐな性格に私はあこがれてしまった。彼は障害の影響で人とうまくかかわる事が苦手だったが、自分のスタイルを持っている。彼はただの映画の登場人物であり、更に障害者であるのに、私は彼の持ち物や、仕草や、好みのものや、生活習慣を真似したりした。
In the movie setting of America before and after the Vietnam War, those with the illness of having low IQ were treated not as handicapped people but just as idiots by the people around them. Though he had a mental disability, I admired his honest and direct. Because of the effect of his handicap, he was not good at relating to other people, but he has his own style. Though he is just a character in a movie, and on top of that, he is a handicapped person, I mimicked his personal effects, actions, the things he liked, and his lifestyle.
