しかしその一方で、彼は政府に対する不満を持っていた。それは（この旅の途中で何度も聞くことになるのだが）、「政治家の汚職」である。インドで起きている様々な社会問題の根源は全てここにあるのだという。政治家は何をやるにしても賄賂を要求してきて、一向に貧困や環境破壊といった社会問題が解決に向かわないのだ。彼は言う。
「政府は貧しい人のために学校や病院を提供しないといけないのに、いつまでたっても動かない。みんなが解決に動けば、解決できるはずの問題なのに…。」
However, on the other hand, he was dissatisfied with the government. This was because of (as I would hear many times on this trip) "corrupt politicians." He said that this was the root of all the societal problems taking place in India. The politicians demand bribes to do anything and are making no efforts toward solving societal problems like poverty or environmental destruction.
"The government must offer schools and hospitals to the poor, but they don't move no matter how much time passes. It's a problem that could be solved if everyone worked toward a solution..."
