「パラベン」とは化粧品用の防腐剤として使われる成分です。合成の防腐剤としては最も微量で安全性が高く、皮膚への刺激も少ないため、多くの化粧品に使用されてきましたが、800人に1人くらいの割合でアレルギー性があることが判明しています。アレルギー性ということで、かつては厚生省の指定成分にもなっていました。
パラベンフリーとは、その防腐剤のパラベンが含まれていないことを指します。今ではパラペンフリーをうたう化粧品も増えています。

For a sythetic preservative, it is highly safe, and has been used in many cosmetics. it is less iritating to the skin and the known allergy rate is 1 in 800 people. It has become a designated allergen componant by the Ministry of Health.
Preservative free reffers to the fact that there paraben and other commponants are not included. Now the preservative free cosmetics are increasing.
