Announcing Startup Asia Jakarta!

We wrapped up Startup Asia Singapore just over a month ago. The response has been great, and it motivates us to keep moving and building. At the end of Startup Asia Singapore, I said that we would be announcing our next city very soon. And here it is.
That city is Jakarta, Indonesia. Startup Asia Jakarta will be held on June 7 and 8.

我々はちょうど1ヶ月前にスタートアップアジアシンガポールを終えたところだ。反応は上々だったし、そのおかげでさらなる前進とより多くを構築し続けていくように我々自身を奮い立たせてくれている。スタートアップアジアシンガポールの終了時に我々は次の開催都市の発表をすぐにでも行うと伝えたのだが、それがここだ。
その都市とはインドネシアのジャカルタである。スタートアップアジアジャカルタは6月7日と8日に開催予定だ。
In fact, some local friends tell me that Startup Asia Jakarta is the first international startup conference ever held in Indonesia. I’m not sure if that’s true or not, but we’re delighted to go there in any case. Our team has also been learning a lot from our Indonesian friends. It has been a humbling experience. The people in Jakarta are amazingly friendly and of course Indonesia is oozing with tech potential. And the world is watching.
実際、何人かの地元の友人達が伝えてくれたところによれば、スタートアップ・アジア・ジャカルタはインドネシア初の国際スタートアップカンファレンスだという。それが本当かどうかは定かではないが、ともかくカンファレンスに行けるのはうれしいかぎりだ。我々のチームはまた、インドネシア人の友人達から多くを知ることができた。それは出鼻をくじかれるような体験であった。ジャカルタの人々は驚くほどフレンドリーだし、もちろんインドネシアは技術的には溢れんばかりの可能性を秘めている。そして世界が注目しているのである。
Over the last four weeks, we’ve had some team members traveling back and forth to Jakarta to lay the foundation for this event. The reason we chose Jakarta is mainly because of demand. Quite a few friends from Indonesia visited our Startup Asia Singapore conference and many wanted it to be held in Jakarta.
ここ最近の4週間にわたって、我々のチームメンバーの数名がこのイベントの骨格を決めるべく、ジャカルタを行ったり来たりした。ジャカルタに決定したのは主にそうした需要があるからだった。かなり多くのインドネシアの友人達がスタートアップアジアシンガポールを訪れ、その多くがジャカルタでの開催を望んだのであった。
Our Jakarta conference will be held at the Upperroom Jakarta, a gorgeous conference and exhibition space located in the heart of Jakarta. The exhibition hall for startups and sponsors will be at least twice as large as the one we had in Singapore. You can also expect a larger crowd, and a good mix of local and international participants. For the Jakarta conference, we will also run a 30-hour Hackathon focusing on mobile hacks. Details of the Hackathon will be released at a later date.
我々のジャカルタカンファレンスはUpperroom Jakartaにおいて開催されるのだが、そこはジャカルタ中心部に位置し、とても豪華なカンファレンスとエキシビジョン用の空間である。スタートアップとスポンサー用のエキシビジョンホールはシンガポールの時のものより少なくとも2倍の広さはある。より多くの参加者が見込まれるし、参加者は地元も海外ともどもうまくバランスがとれている。ジャカルタカンファレンスではさらにモバイルハッキングに特化した30時間ハッカーソンも開催する予定だ。ハッカーソンの詳細については後日発表することになっている。

Startup Arena
Our event is created for entrepreneurs. So we’re putting a huge focus on Startup Arena, where a group of selected startups across Asia will battle for US$10,000.
In the four weeks following our Singapore event, we learned that two startups who competed at Arena have already received fundings, and there are more to be announced soon apparently. While we can’t claim any credit for their successes, we do like to think that Arena is a great springboard for startups in Asia. So if you think your startup has what it takes, come and compete at Arena on June 7 and 8.

我々のイベントは起業家達のために構築されている。だから我々はスタートアップアリーナにかなり焦点を合わせており、そこではアジア中から選ばれたスタートアップ達が1万米ドルをかけて争う。
シンガポールのイベント後の4週間の最中に知ったのが、アリーナで戦った二組のスタートアップがすでに資金を獲得していたことだった。そして、近いうちにより多くのことについてお知らせできるだろう。彼らの成功は我々のおかげであるなどと言うつもりはさらさらないのだが、アリーナはアジアにおけるスタートアップのすばらしい踏み台となっていると考えたいものだ。だから、もしあなたがスタートアップの条件を兼ね備えていると考えているなら、6月7、8日に開催されるアリーナに来て、戦って欲しいのだ。
