Increase your options. Develop a second, or even a third set of skills to fall back on, in case your current job or trade is lost or reduced in importance. Don't focus too much on one occupation; rather, develop a range of skills that can be used in case your main occupation is lost. A person with a range of skills worries less about things being out of control, economic downturns, etc. You don't feel locked into one occupation or career and you are flexible enough to take advantage of other opportunities as they come along.
