Aside from having about 97% of the original honey-gold lacquer left, the horn is damage-free. Likewise, the original case shown in the pictures is also in good order with latches working perfectly.
The serial number, 37XXX, puts the manufacturing date of this horn in 1948--the first year of the SBA model. And as the pictures show, the serial number on the body tube matches the one on the neck.

Having gone through an overhaul about a year ago, the horn's leather pads (with metal dome resonators) seal tight, and one can whisper a low Bb on this horn effortlessly. The action, needless to say, is smooth and light--living up to its name, Super (Balanced) Action. And the tone is thick, medium-dark, and somewhat focused.
