SAP to Pump $2 Billion Into China, Bring 2,000 New Jobs
At an event in Beijing this afternoon, the enterprise application vendor SAP (NYSE:SAP; ETR:SAP) announced spending plans for more than US$2 billion, stretching ahead to 2015, in order to grow its business in China. The plan will nearly double the amount of its employees here.
SAP already has six offices in China, and a major R&D facility in Shanghai that employs over 400 people alone. Today the German company outlined four key areas where that extra expenditure will be used to scale its China operations:

既にSAPは中国に6つの事業所と上海に主力研究開発施設を所有し、研究開発施設だけでも400人が雇用されている。本日、SAPは中国での事業展開にあたり投資対象となる4つの重点分野を発表した。
1. More investment in its SAP Labs in China.
2. Hire approximately 2,000 more people through 2015, as a part of increasing its market presence in China, with “five to six new offices across the country” to enable all that.
3. To scale SAP support in the region.
4. By greater outreach to small- and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in China, which the company says will benefit the entire IT ecosystem in the country.
In a press release, SAP’s president for the China region, Hera Siu, described all this as a significant, “increased level of commitment” in the country.
SAP says it has just over 1,500 enterprise-level customers in the country at present.

２．中国における市場で存在感を示すための手段の1つとして、2015年までに、「国内の5～6社の新オフィス設立」をもって、およそ2000名の人材を雇用する。
３．当地域において SAP サポートシステムを調整する。
４．国内の全体的な IT エコシステムにとって有益となると企業が考える、中国の中小企業（SME）に対しさらなる普及活動を行う。
プレスリリースで、SAP 中国の会長である Hera Siu 女史は、これらの動き全てを国内における貴重な「責任感の高まりである」と述べた。
現時点で、国内における企業レベルの顧客数はまだ1500を少し超えるほどでしかない、と SAP は述べた。
