I grade mostly visually, but I put each lp on my Denon dp75 to spot check it before issuing the final grade. I tend to listen to the opening, pick a couple of spots in the middle....listen between tracks for background noise etc. And if there are any potential trouble spots I see I check those as well. But I don't listen to them fully unless it is stated that it came from my personal collection. All of my records come from estate sales, so they tend to be one owner records. This allows me to see how they generally treated their records....how they were stored, did they use inner sleeves, conditions of the house for mold, etc.
たいていの場合、私は目視して状態を確認し、グレード付けしますが、最終的なグレードを決定する前に、自分のデノンdp75レコードプレーヤーにそれぞれのLP盤を乗せて再生し、状態を部分的にチェックします。たいてい楽曲のオープニング部分と途中の数か所を聴きます…曲間のバックグラウンド・ノイズの有無などを確認します。もしなにか問題になりそうな場所を目視で確認できたら、その部分も聴いてみて確認しています。しかし、私の個人的なコレクションからの出品である、との記載がない場合は、LP全体を通して聴いて確認することはありません。私のレコードはすべて、不用品の買い取りから得たものです。従って多くの場合はワンオーナーのレコードであることが多いです。だから私はそれらのレコードがだいたいどのように扱われてきたのかを適正に評価することができます…どのように保管されてきたか、インナー・スリーブは使用されてきたか、かびの生えやすい状態での保管であったかどうか、などがよくわかります。
I end up handling each lp several times as well...when I buy it I take them to a bright light or by a sunny window for an initial check. Then when I get them home, I inspect them before and after cleaning. Then I spot play grade them. Then I photograph them from a lot of angles. So I do see a lot of the lp before it goes on sale.
I stand by my grading. If you are having an issue with one of the 4 sides I will offer you a $20 refund as a good faith gesture. I have thousands of happy vinyl customers and I really work hard to get it right the 1st time.
