富士山周辺は織物産業が盛んです。河口湖では「大石紬」という稀少で素朴な織物産業がありました。プログラムでは「大石紬」の歴史や特徴などを聞きながら、富士山周辺地域で今もなお受け継がれている織物工場から出る端材をリサイクル活用し、オリジナルの敷物作りに挑戦します。

The area around Mount Fuji is famous for textile industry. There has been a very rare and simple style of textile called "Ooishi tsumugi" near Lake Kawaguchi. The program consists of the lecture on the history of "Ooshima tsumugi" and its features. And then we would try making our very own rug by recycling the leftover materials from the textile industries around Mt. Fuji area which are still producing in traditional manners.

Using the"Aota" stone, the material traditionally used for engraving seals, you would be making your original seal. Yamanashi prefecture ranks first in its share of seals. You can enjoy this hands-on style of making seals. You may design and then engrave it to make your own seal.

Weaving industries are active around Mt. Fuji. There used to be ”Oishi pongee" which is rare and naive weaving industry near the Kawaguchi Lake. During the program. we listen to the features and history of "Oishi porgee," and try to make your own mat by recycling wood waste from inherited weaving factories around Mt. Fuji.

Make your own stamps from Seiden-seki which has been used as traditional stamp-making material. You can enjoy this unique experience-based craft in Yamanashi prefecture where is holding top share of stamps. You design and carve your own stamps.
