Japan is called one of the developing countries concerning Facebook; because the Facebook in Japan cannot not get good market compared to the existing SNSs such as mixi, Mobage Town, and GREE, and Twitter since it joined this field. Kunihiro Maeda explained the factors for this phenomenon. He says that the three has been inherently "less interaction of Japanese and people in abroad", the present SNSs such as mixi control most users, and "the global network merit is scarcely acknowledged by Japanese".

JAPAN has several existing SNSs, such as mixi, Mobage Town, GREE, and Twitter which was played up by various media after entry. Such existing SNSs have strong power of influence, and this is the reason why Japan is called as primitive country of Facebook. Mr Kunihiro Maeda explained the reasons as follow: less number of Japanese having having international human relationships, strong influence power of existing SNSs in Japan, such as mixi, and the advantage of global network, which is not appealing for Japanese.
