Sometimes it takes a last-minute surprise and a leap of faith to put a perfect ending on an album. Such was the case with Stickup Kid's "Tailwind," the late addition to their upcoming album Future Fire.
"About a month or so before we went in to track Future Fire at Jingletown in Oakland, Tony [Geravesh, vocals] told me he was working on a new song," explains guitarist Bo McDowell. "I thought it was insane to try and complete/demo/prep an entire song in less than a month when we had already been demoing/dissecting every song we already had."
It took only a brief listen to the song to ease McDowell's doubts about the late addition, however. "He ended up sending me the first minute or two of 'Tailwind' and on the first listen I automatically knew this song was meant to be on the album. I went over to his house and we finished writing it (the bridge/ending was actually inspired by a different song I was working on months prior to this)," McDowell said. "'Tailwind' ended up being the last song we wrote and luckily became the album's closer."

「結局彼は『Tailwind』の最初の１、２分を送ってくれて、それを一度聴いたらすぐにアルバムに入れるべき曲だと思ったよ。彼の家に行って一緒に曲を完成させたんだ（実は、間奏と曲の終わり部分は何か月も前から取り組んでいた別の曲を利用した）」とマクダウェルは話した。「結局『Tailwind』は最後に作った曲となって、幸運にもアルバムの最後の曲になった」
