日本人形は、
伝統的な日本人の風俗の様子を伝えるものならばすべて含まれることになりますが、
どのような種類のものがあるのでしょうか。
日本人形に含められるものには先にも述べた市松人形を含むおやま人形や、衣装人形、
土で成型して焼成された博多人形、
帝を象徴する男児の赤子をかたどった御所人形や、
木製の奈良人形、御台人形、こけしなども日本人形にカテゴライズされます。

これらの多くは、お土産や節句、お祝い事の際の贈り物として頻繁にやり取りがされていました。

All dolls should be called as "Japanese dolls", as long as they introduce Japanese traditional culture by their appearances, then how many types of Japanese dolls are known ?
Oyama doll (includes Ichimatsu doll, explaind above), Isyo- dolls, Hakata dolls which are made by firing casted clay, Gosyo dolls in baby boy form which symbolize the Emperor, wooden Nara dolls, Midai dolls and Kokeshi are categorized as Japanese dolls.

Most of them used to be sent and given often as a souvenir, or a gift for seasonal festivals and cerebrations.

Japanese Dolls is the generic term for dolls that represent Japanese tradition and customers. It has several categories with different histories to tell.
Apart from the Ichimatsu Dolls that mentioned already, Oyama Dolls, Costume Dolls, ceramic dolls called Hakata Dolls as well as baby boy dolls that symbolise the emperor are among Japanese Dolls. Also wooden dolls called Nara Dolls, Midai Dolls as well as Kokeshi dolls are also included in wider definition of the Japanese Dolls.

Those dolls are often exchanged as souvenior s or gifts to mark special occasions, such as seasonal festivals and celebrations.
