Suzuki's Barbershop is about 70 meters from Old Kitakami River. Those of us who came as volunteers were told the situation. Strong quakes continued for a long time. Shortly after the end of the quakes, we heard a sound like ten or more heavy machines tearing a building apart from far away. Is this a tsunami? Somewhat doubtful, we climbed to the second floor with the clotheshorse to see and a huge wall of black water came up the river. People were clinging to the antennas on their roofs that the water washed away from their foundation with terrible power. The people who were holding on for dear life so they wouldn't fall in the river stood out to us.

Barber shop Suzuki was located about 70 meters from former Kitagami river. The master told us, who visited the area as volunteers, about the moment. Strong quake had lasted long. The shaking stopped and after a while, he heard a sound like more than 10 heavy machines breaking buildings from a distance. Is this Tsunami? He was half in doubt, but he ran up the drying area at the second floor. Highly mounting black water wall was flowing backward. His eyes catched people on the swollen water surface. Someone was holding on the antenna on the roof of the house being washed away at a furious speed with the foundation. Someone was struggling to hold on the roof not to be fell into the river.

Suzuki's barber shop was located about 70 meters away from former Kitakamigawa. We visited there as a volunteerers and they told us what happened at the time. A little after the quake had ceased, then I heard a crunching noise far away, which sounded like destroying more than 10 heavy machines. Is this tsunami? I wasn't sure but I climbed onto the drying-space upstairs, where I saw the tall, rising wall of black water. It was flowing backwards from the river. The expanding water surface quickl and I saw people hanging onto roof antennas on houses, which were being carried away from its bottom. I spotted people holding on as hard as they can to not fall into the river.
