Start right away to take all the information and boil it down into general statements about what you need and want to accomplish in doing your job.
It may take a while, and you probably can't do it in one sitting. It will take reflection to synthesize all of the specifics into some general guidelines. But if you eventually condense your statement of purpose to two or three paragraphs that encompass all the specifics that you are responsible for, you will have a guide that will help you make decisions about what is significant and whether or not an activity falls into the purpose you are trying to fulfill.
