日本では、明日1月7日の朝は「七草粥」を食べる日です。
七つの野菜をお粥にするのですが、お正月で疲れた胃腸を整え、一年の無病息災を願って大事にいただきます。皆さまの国では、そのような風習がありますか？先日入院中の母のところへ行き、手を握りながらハンドトリートメントをしました。病院でしたので沢山の手技はできませんでしたが、肌に触れているだけでもとっても喜んでもらえました。小さいころはいつも母に手を握ってもらっていたのに、いつの間にか逆転ですね。母の手に触れられて良かった

Tomorrow, January 7, will be the day when people eat a dish called "nanakusagayu (rice gruel containing seven spring vegetables)" in Japan. It is prepared by adding seven vegetables to rice gruel, which is kinder on the stomachs that are already feeling tired after all the New Year celebrations; and it is also eaten with respect, while wishing for good health in the New Year. Do you have a similar custom in your country? The other day I went to visit my mother who was in hospital, and I held her hands and I carefully applied some hand lotion on them. As we were in a hospital, there was a limit to what I could do, but I felt really happy even just to be able to touch her skin. My mother always used to hold my hands when I was small, and I guess at some point the roles just got reversed. I am glad that I was able to touch my mother.

Customarily, we Japanese eat “nanakusa gayu” or rice porridge with seven herbs for breakfast tomorrow January 7. It is believed that this meal not only brings our stomach, which is abused from party food and drinks around new year’s holiday season, back to normal condition again but also brings us a good health and no tragedy. I am wondering what kind of traditional custom in you country. The other day, I visited my mother hospitalized now and gave her some hand treatment. Since in a hospital room, I could not do much of treatment. However my mother seemed feeling so happy while I was feeling her skin. I remember my mother used to hold my hand when I was small. Ironically now I was doing this for her. I am so glad that I could feel my mother’s hand.

It is good for our bodies and stomachs; we are tired eating the new-year’s dishes and saking alcohol. We also pray for our happiness during the year. Do you have such kind of ritual habit? The other day I went to see my mother in hospital, and treated her with hand-treatment care with her hands in my own hands. We are allowed for only short time care because we were in the hospital. She was very glad to be touched by me. Mother always took and touched my hands when I was a child, but the situation has completely reversed. I cherished touching my mother’s hands.
