筆者らは実験参加者に100コマくらいのマンガを与え、5コマ～20コマに要約させ、実験参加者の要約力を測定するテストを研究している。過去の実験では、多数の実験参加者が選択したコマを単純に並べれば、良い要約になっていた。言い換えれば、マンガの要約において集合知はきわめて有効に機能した。しかし、外国語のマンガでも集合知が機能するかは不明である。
本研究は、日本人に英語のマンガを与えて要約させた結果を報告する。将来は、英語のテストにマンガを利用することも想定している。

the previous experiment, it was deemed a good summary if a number of those subjects just laid the scenes consecutively. Authors are researching a test for measuring subjects of an experiment's summarize skill by asking them to summarize manga (or Japaense cartoon) with about 100 frames into 5-20 frames. From previous experiments, by simply lining many subjects' flames, it was a good summarize. To put it differently, wisdom of crowds were working quite effectively for summarizing manga. However, it's not clear if wisdom of crowds will work same way for Foreign cartoons.

The authors research measuring the applicants' ability of digesting the comics. The authors gave applicants of the examination comics with about 100 frames and the applicants will make summary of 5 - 20 frames. The previous exam showed if they collected the frame that many applicants chose and put simply lined up, they could make a good digest. In other words, gathering knowledge was effective to digest comics. However, it is not known whether the gathering knowledge will work for the comics overseas or not. This study report the result of Japanese made digests from the English comics, In future, they expect to use comics in English test.

We, the authors, give the participants of the experiment 100 pieces of cartoons and made them summarize them to 5~20 pieces so that we can measure their skill of summary. In the previous experiment, only by putting the pieces which the participants selected in line as they are, the good summary was made. In other words, in summarizing cartoons, the collective intelligence worked very efficiently. However, it is not clear that this result is applicable to the foreign cartoons.
This study reports the result when Japanese are given foreign cartoons. We expect we can make use of cartoons for English examination in the future.
