筆者らは実験参加者に100コマくらいのマンガを与え、5コマ～20コマに要約させ、実験参加者の要約力を測定するテストを研究している。過去の実験では、多数の実験参加者が選択したコマを単純に並べれば、良い要約になっていた。言い換えれば、マンガの要約において集合知はきわめて有効に機能した。しかし、外国語のマンガでも集合知が機能するかは不明である。
本研究は、日本人に英語のマンガを与えて要約させた結果を報告する。将来は、英語のテストにマンガを利用することも想定している。

We, the authors, give the participants of the experiment 100 pieces of cartoons and made them summarize them to 5~20 pieces so that we can measure their skill of summary. In the previous experiment, only by putting the pieces which the participants selected in line as they are, the good summary was made. In other words, in summarizing cartoons, the collective intelligence worked very efficiently. However, it is not clear that this result is applicable to the foreign cartoons.
This study reports the result when Japanese are given foreign cartoons. We expect we can make use of cartoons for English examination in the future.
