It is not the money's fault, but it is because the presence of the money can become a replacement of satisfying the greed. With money that can be exchanged to anything, one can be under the illusion of being able to do whatever, even when they don't know what they want. Because money is one of the symbol of power.
If you obey Christ, you will not be bringing yourself to buy an expensive bag and accessories, or even wear any of them. How many hunger could you be treating food to with that money?
If only we think of the people dying over that money who may have been saved on treating ourselves, we wouldn't be in the mood to be luxurious. What you want differs from what you need.

Money is not a bad thing, but existence of money satisfies desire as replacement. We don't know what we want, but having money which can be exchanged with anything, makes us think we can do anything. Money is one of symbols of power.
If we follow Christ, we would never feel like buying expensive bags, accessories or decorating ourselves with them. How many starving people can we feed with that money?
When we spend money on luxury, if we think about people who die while they could have lived with that money, we will never think about spending money on luxury. What we want and what we need are not same.
