青森県青森市では毎年8月初旬に「ねぶた祭り」が開催され、大勢の市民が掛け声とともに、武者等を模った人型や武者絵の描かれた扇型の山車燈籠を引いて街を練り歩きます。写真はその山車燈籠の一例です。

In Aomori city, Aomori prefecture, the Nebuta Matsuri (a nighttime festival) is held at the start of August. As great crowds of townspeople call out, floats with hanging lanterns, featuring models of warriors, etc. and folding-fan-shaped pictures depicting warriors are pulled and paraded through the streets. The photo is an example of these lighted floats.
