Kaketsuka is the estuarytown at the mouth of Tenryugawa River and prospered as the standing point of transpotation by water between Edo and Osaka. For this reason, Edo culture was brought to the city and has been kept in the history from that time to present.
Hikone(Shiga prefecture, Hikone city)
Hikone prospered as the castle town of Hikone castle(national treasure) constructed by Ii clan. "Hiko-nyan" Yurukyara(the promotional mascot character) which sparked "Yurukyara boom"is the mascot character of Hikone. The castle and the castle road which imitated the streetscape of Edo are must-see landmarks.
