日本の北方に位置する大きな島、北海道。
かつてこの地は蝦夷地と呼ばれていましたが、
1800年代後半に起こった政治改革の折、北海道と名を改めました。

そして今年は、蝦夷地が北海道と改められて150年が経つ年です。
私は150年前、あるいはそれ以前から変わらない古道、
先住民や開拓者達が歩んだ、歴史ある足跡を辿る旅に出ました。

四季を通してこの旅を続けるうち、そこで見た物はダイナミックで変化に富み、
心から美しいと思える北の大地の姿でした。

A big island located in the north of Japan, Hokkaido.
This place was once known as the Ezo land, but since the political reform that occurred in the late 1800s, it was renamed as Hokkaido .

And this year, it is the 150 years anniversary since it has elapsed after Ezo land and been changed to Hokkaido.
I went on a journey that followed the historical footprints that ancient roads, indigenous peoples and pioneers walked back 150 years ago or before.

As I continued this journey through the four seasons, the things I saw were the dynamical, changing and richly beautiful land of the North.
