Thank you, Thuy. As you mention, "about September" would be better for 「9月くらい」. "in the middle of" would not indicate "ambiguity", but narrows down specifically from Sept. 10 to Sept. 20, as you points out. I appreciate you provided your honest impression from your perspective.
