測定も計測も作業行為は同じようなものですが、定義上は表現が随分違う

要するに「測定」が単に「量を数値化する」という「作業者の領分」であるのに対し、「計測」は「手段・実施・結果」を有する「技術者の領分」であると言える。
但し、国語辞典では「計測」と「測定」は、意味が同じの場合の方が多いようです

ノギスの当て方が斜めノギスは、定規とパス（幅を測る道具）を一体にしたもので、工場や機械加工現場などで広く使われている測定器。

The measurement and the gauging are similar, but the expression is pretty different by definition. That is, the 'measurement' is simply defined as 'quantify the parameter' which is a part of the worker, contrary to this, the 'gauging' is defined as a part of technician with 'methods, performances, and results'.
However, these are frequently described similar meaning in Japanese dictionary.
The caliper used with an angle is combined a scale and a pass (tool for measurement width), which is widely used at the factory and working place for machine manufacture.
