Generally speaking, most popular bloggers in Japan (mainly for fashion and cosmetic related) tend to be celebrities or TV "talents", and they have huge impact on their fans. As a result, their blogs are made into books or products, and whatever they recommend become a big seller. I'll look into this more if you want to know about more specific examples.
