兼元氏は会社を辞め、昔からのデザインサークルをバックにスポンサーを探した。ある東京の企業家から「アメリカにある工場で開発をやらせてあげる」という話が舞い込み、着々とその準備を進めていた。

ところが、最後の最後になって、「死んでも一緒にやりましょう」と言っていたデザインの仲間たちが突然降りてしまう。これで折角の計画は空中分解。落胆して、ひさしぶりに妻子の待つ名古屋の家に帰ってみると、「もう疲れました」という置手紙を残し、妻は子供を連れて実家に帰ってしまっていた。

Mr. Kanemoto resigned from the company and looked for sponsors depending on the design circle he had known for a long time. Some entrepreneur in Tokyo asked him to do development at a plant in the US and he was steadily making preparations for that.

However, in the last minute his designer friends who used to swear that they would work with him after their death suddenly quit on him. This caused the plan to disintegrate in the middle. Disappointed, he returned to his home in Nagoya for the first time in a long while, where he was expecting his wife and children to wait for him. Then he found his wife’s letter saying she was tired of waiting for him. She had gone back to her parents’ house with their children.
