When making the move to the US, one thing to consider along with where you want to live is how you are going to get around. A lot of this has to do with where you need to commute to for work, your extracurricular activities, and what you intend to do on the weekends.

The variables to consider are: rental cost, lifestyle, and whether you want to drive. However, sometimes people forget that the commute to work has a direct impact on the quality of life. Driving 30-40 minutes one way really isn't fun.
