The answer is beside the point. The method you are referring would work to make the image on the details page smaller, doesn't it?

Those images on the top page and the category page should adjust them to 236px.
The same must apply when the external URL is shared, also.
Something must be absolutely wrong with the design simply displaying an image similar to the below size for the thumbnail image.
